Mediation Experience

Jason has mediated a broad range of civil disputes in federal, state, and administrative forums, with the majority of his mediation work in resolving labor and employment matters. These cases include claims of discrimination and harassment, disability and accommodation issues, wage and hour and misclassification claims, retaliation and whistleblower allegations, and conflicts between management and represented or non-represented employees.

In addition to workplace and employment-related disputes, Jason's mediation experience includes the resolution of other civil claims such as contract and business disagreements, public accommodations, personal injury, landlord-tenant issues, and debt or collections matters. With a variety of civil mediation experience, Jason is able to help parties confidentially evaluate legal risk, business priorities, and the personal/practical considerations that impact settlement negotiations.

Jason has conducted mediation of cases pending in federal and state courts - before, during and after the discovery process. Early mediation experience at the administrative level includes claims pending before the EEOC, NLRB, DOL (Human Rights, Wage and Hour, Employment Security, Workers' Compensation), ED-OCR, OSHA, and various other state and local agencies. Jason is adept at working with represented litigants, pro-se parties, and insurance claims adjusters, and knows his way around the negotiation dynamics accordingly.

Personal

I've lived in the St. Louis area for most of my life. We moved around a lot when I was young, but when my dad got out of the military he was stationed at Scott Air Force Base and we stayed put. I am adventurous by nature and I never thought that I would stay in one place, but life happens and I kept my roots in the midwest.

Married with three now-adult kids, I have found that my conflict resolution skills are not as effective at home for some reason. I like to travel, sometimes with our two rescue dogs, and also divide my time between Kansas City and Chicago. I am fairly outdoorsy, I am equally terrible at golf and guitar (I try!), and when I am not on the road I'm usually working on a car, landscaping, building, or repairing something.
